Crimes related to Restaurants

Police have arrested five males following a series of armed robberies in Melbourne’s southern suburbs late last night.

The alleged incidents are as follows:

• An armed robbery at a service station on Blackburn Road near Ferntree Gully Road in Notting Hill about 11.05pm;

• An armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Westall Road near Osborne Avenue in Springvale about 11.35pm;

• An armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Edithvale Road near Wells Road in Chelsea Heights about 11.45pm.

Two of the men were arrested on Dulcie Court in Noble Park North about 12.55am this morning.

The remaining three men were arrested a short time later on Alamein Street in Noble Park with the assistance of the Canine Unit.

Rocky, one of the dogs involved, completed his first arrest.

Five males, three 17-year-olds, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, are currently in custody and are assisting police with their enquiries.

Two men have been charged over an armed robbery in the Hunter region earlier this year.

Strike Force Shirley was established by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Port Stephens and Central Hunter Local Area Commands, to investigate a series of armed robberies in the area.

Two men – aged 18 and 30 – have previously been charged by strike force detectives.

As part of ongoing investigations, police from Port Stephens Local Area Command attended a home on Cook Street, Raymond Terrace, about 1.45pm on Saturday (8 April 2017), where they located a 21-year-old man hiding under a bed.

He was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Station, where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege the charge relates to the armed robbery of a fast food restaurant at Williamtown on Wednesday 25 January 2017.

Following further inquiries, strike force investigators arrested a 32-year-old man at a motel on the Pacific Highway, Heatherbrae, about 10.30pm.

He was taken to Raymond Terrace Station and charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon.

Both men were refused bail and appeared at Newcastle Local Court yesterday (Sunday 9 April 2017), where they were formally refused bail to appear at the same court later today (Monday 10 April 2017).

Police have arrested two youths following four armed robberies in Elsternwick this afternoon.

The pair approached four youths at a fast food restaurant car park at the intersection of Glenhuntly Road and Nepean Highway and demanded cash just after 2.30pm.

The four teenagers obliged and the pair fled.

Caulfield police were quickly on the scene and arrested the pair at nearby Riddell Parade.

The two boys, aged 15 and 16 are currently assisting Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit detectives with their enquiries.

Detectives investigating recent armed robberies in the Hunter region have charged a second man.

Strike Force Shirley was established by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Port Stephens and Central Hunter Local Area Commands, to investigate a series of armed robberies in the area.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Shirley detectives, with the assistance of police from Strike Force Raptor, arrested a 30-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Edinburgh Street, Raymond Terrace, about 11.45am yesterday (Friday 7 April 2017).

The passenger in the vehicle – a 39-year-old man – was also arrested at the scene for unrelated matters.

Shortly after the arrest, two search warrants were executed at homes on Vogele Place and Brown Street, Raymond Terrace, where police located and seized a number of items relevant to the investigation.

Both men were taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station, where strike force detectives charged the 30-year-old man with two counts of robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon.

Police will allege the charges relate to the armed robbery of an East Maitland pub on Monday 5 December 2016, and the armed robbery of a fast food restaurant at Williamtown on Wednesday 25 December 2016.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Saturday 8 April 2017).

An 18-year-old man remains before the courts after being charged by Strike Force Shirley detectives earlier this week.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.

Detectives also seized a number of items, including a Holden Commodore, which was located nearby.

As inquiries under Strike Force Shirley continue, detectives have released CCTV of masked people who they believe may be able to assist with further inquiries.

The vision depicts the masked people entering a fast food restaurant on Nelson Bay Road, Williamtown, about 10.50pm on Wednesday 25 January 2017.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may know those depicted in the vision, or who has information relevant to the investigation, to come forward.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in San Remo on the Central Coast.

Emergency services were called to a restaurant on Liamena Avenue, San Remo, about 8pm last night (Tuesday 28 March 2017), following reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told that a man entered the restaurant and threatened staff with a knife before stealing a sum of cash and leaving.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Command attended and launched an investigation into the incident.

A crime scene was established which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

As inquiries continue, officers would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170cms tall, medium build and wearing a white jumper and black tracksuit pants.

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Hampton Park last night.

Investigators have been told five people attended a milk bar on Coral Drive about 8pm on Saturday 18 March.

Two men jumped the counter and assaulted the attendant, a 33-year-old woman, before forcing her to the ground.

A third man emptied the till and stole cigarettes while a female accomplice kept watch.

A fourth man, armed with a knife, wrestled with the 45-year-old partner of the attendant out the front of the store and pushed him through an adjoining shop window.

The 45-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment while the 33-year-old woman was treated at the scene.

Investigators have been told that all offenders had their faces covered during the robbery and were wearing dark clothes.

Ballarat Crime Investigation unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify people involved in an attempted armed robbery in Ballarat earlier this morning.

A blue sedan entered a drive-thru at a fast food outlet on Victoria Street in Ballarat East about 2.20am, driving straight up to a window attended by staff.

A girl sitting in the rear passenger seat then produced a knife and demanded money.

The offenders drove off empty handed.

The girl is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged 15 to 18 years old.

Investigators believe the vehicle is a VT or VX Commodore and have been told the sedan’s rear number plate was covered with tape.

Police have released a CCTV image of a vehicle of interest following investigations into an armed robbery at South Kempsey in January.

About 2.10am on Monday 9 January 2017, two males, one armed with a knife, entered a fast-food restaurant at the South Kempsey Service Centre and walked behind the counter.

One man grabbed one of the four staff members by the arm, and then by the neck, demanding cash.

The two offenders then removed a quantity of cash and fled from the premises in a white mid 1990s white Toyota Landcruiser 4WD which drove from the area and was found burnt out in bushland.

Strike Force Gooriwa was established by detectives from Mid North Coast Local Area Command to investigate.

The first male was described as about 6 foot tall (183cm), with a stocky build and had distinct tattoo or scar underneath his right eye. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with a balaclava at the time.

The second male, armed with the knife is described as having skinny build, and was wearing a hooded jumper and balaclava.

Both men were wearing gloves during the robbery.

Investigators have released an image of the vehicle used in the hope it will provide more information about events both leading up to and after the robbery.

Police are appealing for public information after an armed robbery on Sydney’s Central Coast last night.

Just before 9pm (Sunday 12 March 2017), a 30-year-old man was working in a fast food store on Pacific Highway, Charmhaven, when an unknown man entered the store and approached him.

The man threatened the employee with a knife before fleeing with a sum of cash. No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command attended and have commenced inquires.

Police would like to speak to a man who might be able to assist their investigations.

He is described as being of medium build, approximately 180cm tall with blue eyes.

At the time of the incident he was seen wearing a face mask, a white hooded top, dark pants, white sneakers, yellow gloves and was carrying a green fabric shopping bag.
