On Thursday 31st May 2012 at 6.15pm a male person armed with a knife approached a female in a car park in Hedley Street, Scottsdale. The male person demanded money from the female as she attempted to enter her vehicle.

The male was handed a small quantity of cash and he fled the scene on foot. The female was not injured.

The male is described as approximately 6” tall, wearing dark coloured clothing and a balaclava or beanie with the eyes cut out.

Shortly before 3.30am Friday 25 May 2012 a male has entered the BP Service Station on Invermay Road, Invermay.

Upon entering he concealed his face and demanded money and cigarettes from the female shop attendant.  While doing so he lifted his shirt and showed what the staff member believed was a firearm down his pants.

The male was given cash and cigarettes and fled the BP on foot towards Elm Street.

At about 2250 hours on Thursday, 3 May 2012,  a male armed with a sawn-off shot gun  has entered the Coles Supermarket situated at Charles Street, Launceston.  The offender has then demanded money from the male staff member who was serving a customer at the time of the incident . He then fled the store on foot with a small amount of cash.

The offender was last seen running across Charles Street to a waiting vehicle parked behind the Caltex Service Station.

The male person is described as aprroximately 170cm in height, average build, aged in his 40’s wearing white gloves, a hoodie and dark clothing.  His face covered with a balaclava or similar type clothing.

No persons were injured during the robbery. The matter is currently being investigated by detectives from the  Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch.

At about 12:30am on Tuesday 1 May 2012 three people forced entry to the Bushy Park Roadhouse at Bushy Park.

The three people then stole in excess of $10,000 worth of cigarettes. The three have fled the scene in a motor vehicle stolen from New Norfolk.

On Tuesday 1 May 2012 at 9.30pm detectives from Eastern District CIB along with the assistance of Bridgewater uniform searched for and apprehended an 18 year old male at New Norfolk in relation to the matter.

The male was charged with burglary, stealing and motor vehicle stealing and detained to appear in court on Wednesday 2 May 2012.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the two outstanding offenders.

At approximately 2.35pm on Friday 20th April 2012 an unknown male has entered the Sand Bar Cafe situated at 534 South Arm Road, Lauderdale. The male person was wearing a black full faced balaclava.

The male person approached the counter and demanded cash from the employee at the Cafe.

The employee handed over a quantity of assorted notes and coins . The male then left the Cafe walking down Dona Road, Lauderdale.

The male is described as being approximately 5 foot 11 inches, slim build,  brown medium length hair.  An estimated age is between 18 – 25 years. Nationality is not known.

The male was wearing a blue and black flannelette jacket and black jeans.

In the early hours of Tuesday 20 March 2012 the Newstead Hotel Bottle Shop was broken into and about $10 000 worth of alcohol stolen.

Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have recovered the majority of the alcohol stolen and have charged a 19 year old Devonport man with the burglary and stealing.

He was bailed to appear in the Devonport Court of Petty Sessions.

Investigations are continuing into other persons involved in the burglary.

Hobart Detectives are searching for two males who robbed a female taxi driver at knife point in the early hours of this morning. The driver was responding to a call for a taxi to a phone box at the corner of Milles Street and Huon Road just after 2am.

On arrival a male person wearing a dark stocking over his head entered the passenger side of the taxi and then another male approached the driver’s door.

The male in the taxi was holding a knife and demanded money from the driver. After taking some notes, coins and personal belongings the two males left after one threatened the driver not to contact police.

One male is describes as early twenties, slim athletic build and had very defined cheekbones.

The second male was wearing a dark hooded top pulled over his head and was slim build but with broad shoulders.

Police are seeking any information that the public may have concerning this matter.

GlenorchyCIBhave this afternoon charged two males in relation to two armed robbery incidents at Glenorchy Service Stations overnight.

A 25 year old male and 21 year old male, both from the Derwent Valley area were jointly charged with 1x count of Attempted Aggravated Armed Robbery and 1x count of Aggravated Armed Robbery.  Both will appear in court in early April. 

Detective Sergeant Gill stated “The locating and charging of both offenders in such a timely manner was a direct result of information provided by members of the public and the installation of quality surveillance cameras at both locations”.

GlenorchyCIBare investigating two serious matters that occurred in the early hours of 28 February 2012.

The first incident occurred at the United Service Station, 409 Brooker Highway, Lutana.  At 4.50amtwo males entered the business, threatened a staff member with a knife demanding money, but soon after fled the scene empty handed. 

The second incident occurred only a short time later at approximately 5.10am, in which two males entered the Shell Service Station, 94 Main Road, Claremont.  The males threatened staff with a knife, demanding money and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount. 

Police are following a specific line of enquiries in relation to these matters and believe them to be linked.

Glenorchy Detectives advise that they are investigating a further armed robbery, in addition to the two that occurred at the Caltex Service Station Glenorchy overnight Saturday 4 February 2012.

Last night, Monday 6 February 2012, around 9.50pm a male person armed with what has been described as a “large bread knife” threatened a female staff member at the Claremont Hotel Bottle Shop and after demanding money grabbed cash from the cash register.  The male then ran from the area. 

Glenorchy Detectives are focusing their investigation on one particular individual they believe is responsible for all three armed robberies.
