Hobart Detectives have today charged a 24 year old Huonville man with Armed Robbery of the Video Ezy Store at New Town in September this year.
On the evening of 5 September a man entered the store carrying a crowbar and demanded cash from the male attendant.
The offender escaped with a small amount of cash.
The offender will appear in the Hobart Magistrate’s Court on 7 December 2012.
Police are investigating after a video shop was robbed at knife point yesterday evening.
At around 9.20pm a man entered the Oxley Drive store armed with a knife and demanded cash from the store attendants.
The offender fled the store on foot with a sum of cash in a southerly direction down Oxley Drive before running down an alley way.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
The man is described as Caucasian, around 175cm tall and of a slim build.
Investigations are continuing.
At approximately 9.50 pm on Sunday 7 October 2012, police responded to an armed robbery at Video City New Town. One male entered the store with a sawn off shot gun and left with a quantity of cash. At the time the offender was wearing dark clothing and a black balaclava.
As a result of a co-ordinated search by uniform police the offender was apprehended in Talosa Street, Glenorchy after being intercepted by police. At the time of the interception the offender had crashed his vehicle. The sawn off shot gun was located in the vehicle.
A 36 year old Glenorchy male has been interviewed and charged with armed robbery and firearm offences. He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 8 October 2012.
Police are currently at the scene of an aggravated robbery at Para Vista.
Just after 4.30pm a man entered the Blockbuster Video store on Nelson Road allegedly armed with a knife and demanded cash.
He is described as being Caucasian, about 40 years, 183cm tall and medium build.
He was wearing blue jeans, navy blue polo shirt and white sneakers.
He also had a camouflage hat covering his face.
The suspect was last seen on foot heading towards Warren Road with an amount of cash.

Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit also believe there are a number of people who witnessed the incident on Thursday, 30 August who are yet to come forward.
Investigators have been told a man carrying a backpack entered the store on Nepean Highway just before 10.30pm.
It’s alleged the offender started putting DVDs into his backpack and when confronted by a staff member, threatened him with a knife.
The man has then taken a quantity of cash from the till and left the store. He was last seen running south on Nepean Highway.
No one was injured during the incident.
The offender is described as around 175cm tall with a thin build, dishevelled in appearance, and aged in his mid 20s with red hair and goatee.
He was wearing a white baseball-style shirt and jeans, and was carrying a large dark coloured backpack.
Detectives have released a FACE image of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.
Police are investigating the robbery of a video shop south of Wollongong.
About 9.45pm yesterday (Thursday 20 September 2012), a 22-year-old woman was working at the store on College Avenue, Shellharbour, when a man armed with a knife entered the shop.
The man threatened the woman and demanded she open the cash register. The woman complied and gave the man a small amount of cash before he ran from the scene. He was last seen running west on College Avenue.
No-one was injured in the incident. Police from Lake Illawarra LAC attended and established a crime scene.
The man has been described as Caucasian appearance, wearing a balaclava, a dark jumper, and light coloured tracksuit pants.
