A man has been arrested after attempting to rob a hotel and a service station in the northern suburbs early tonight.

Just after 7pm on Tuesday 26 February police were called to a hotel on Hampstead Road at Clearview after reports a man had threatened staff with a knife.  He had in his possession a bag of ice he had taken from the freezer. He demanded money from the till and the ice.

Staff refused and the man left empty handed.

Police will allege the man left the hotel in a vehicle and drove towards a nearby service station on Hampstead Road at Broadview.  The man again threatened staff with a knife and demanded money and a bag of ice.  The man left the service station empty handed.

Checks on the vehicle resulted in police locating the man at a Clearview address.  He was arrested without incident.

The 42-year-old man from St Marys was charged with numerous offences including two counts of attempt robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

The man was refused bail and will appear in court on Wednesday 27 February.

Police have released CCTV of the moment an inner-city hotel was robbed at knifepoint last month.

About 9.10pm on Thursday 31 January 2019, a man who had his face concealed jumped the counter of the Hotel on Botany Road.

The man, who was armed with a knife, threatened a worker and demanded cash.

At the time, there were several other staff and customers present.

The worker opened the cash registers and the armed man fled with cash a short time later.

No one was injured.

As investigations continue, police would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV.

He is described as being of Maori/Pacific Islander appearance, with a solid build; and is shown wearing a long-sleeved khaki jacket, dark long pants, black shoes, with a yellow jumper partially concealing his face.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who may have captured dashcam vision of the man fleeing, to come forward.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at Port Macquarie overnight.

About 10.40pm (Tuesday 12 February 2019), three men entered a hotel on Hastings River Drive just after it had closed for the day.

The men were reportedly armed with an axe, a tomahawk and a knife, and approached three staff members who were counting the day’s takings.

Staff were threatened before the men left the premises with an amount of cash.

The men are described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander appearance and were wearing hooded tops with their faces and hands partially covered.

Police from Mid North Coast Police District were notified of the incident.

A crime scene was established and was examined by forensic officers.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a licensed premises in Maroubra last night.

Just before 10pm (Wednesday 6 February 2019), a man armed with a large knife entered the hotel on Anzac Parade, threatened a staff member and demanded money.

He was given an amount of money before fleeing the scene. Nobody was injured.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The man has been described as being approximately 188cm tall and with a large build, wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants, a face covering and steel-cap tan boots.

Inquiries continue.

Armed Crime Squad investigators have charged a man and woman following a spate of armed robberies across Melbourne’s northwest.

The alleged incidents took place over a number of years and included:

– an armed robbery at a Tottenham liquor store in April 2014;

– armed robbery at a gaming venue in St Albans in June 2015;

– armed robbery at a post office in Deer Park in June 2018;

– armed robbery at a sporting club in Kings Park in November 2018;

– and an attempted armed robbery at a gaming venue in St Albans in November 2018.

Detectives executed warrants at separate addresses in Kings Park and Albanvale yesterday (30 January), where they allegedly seized items including imitation firearms, clothing, mobile phones, cannabis plants and a vehicle.

As a result, a 34-year-old Kings Park man was arrested and charged with a number of offences, including armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, recklessly cause injury, assault with weapon and firearm-related offences.

A 39-year-old Albanvale woman has been charged with armed robbery, theft, traffic drug of dependence (methamphetamine) and cultivate cannabis.

Both have been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a licensed premises in Albion Park Rail.

About 11.30pm (Tuesday 29 January 2019), a man armed with a firearm entered the hotel on the Princes Highway and threatened two staff members.

He was given a large amount of cash before fleeing the scene. Nobody was injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The man has been described as wearing a green motorcycle helmet, black jacket, white gloves and grey pants. He was carrying a large blue shoulder bag.

Inquiries continue.

Police are appealing for public assistance after an attempted armed robbery at a hotel in Parramatta this morning.

Shortly after 1.30am (Monday 28 January 2019), two men, believed to be armed with firearms, entered a hotel carpark on Church Street, Parramatta.

The men allegedly threatened a 31-year-old male security guard, before fleeing the scene in a white van empty-handed.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in the CBD this morning.

Just after 5am on Sunday 13 January, three men armed with a sledge hammer and an axe entered a licensed premises in Pulteney Street and threatened staff before stealing an amount of cash.

The trio were last seen getting into a waiting silver Holden sedan being driven by a fourth man. The car drove off heading south on Pulteney Street.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

One suspect is described as 180cm tall, heavy build, about 130kg and dark complexion. He was wearing black pants, a dark grey hooded top and black sneakers.

A second suspect is described as 177cm tall, about 80kg with dark complexion. He was wearing a light grey hooded top, black pants and white shoes.

A third suspect is described as 172cm tall, about 80kg with dark complexion. He was wearing black pants and a black hooded top.

All three suspects had their faces covered.

An Elizabeth East man will appear in court today following an alleged armed robbery at Elizabeth Downs tavern last night.

Just after 9pm on Thursday 10 January, patrols were called to a hotel on Midway Road, after a man armed with a machete threatened staff in the bottle-shop and left with an amount of cash from the till. Thankfully no one was physically injured.

Patrols quickly converged on the area and located the suspect a short time later nearby on Seatown Road and identified from the CCTV security vision from the tavern.

The 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery he was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
