Crimes related to Liquor Stores

Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Sydney’s west last night.

About 7.30pm (Wednesday 9 February 2016), a 27-year-old man was working at a bottle shop on Dargan Street, Yagoona, when two men, one armed with a wooden bat, entered the store.

Police have been told the armed pair threatened the employee, before taking cash from a till and running from the scene.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers attached to Bankstown Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist them.

The first man is described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, about 195cm tall, of slim build, and aged between 18 and 20 years.

He was seen wearing gloves, a grey hooded jumper and dark pants.

The second man is described as being about 170cm tall and was wearing a hooded jumper and long pants.

A 21-year-old Rochedale South man will appear in court tomorrow following investigations into seven armed robberies across the Logan area since May last year.

It is alleged the man produced a large hunting knife at a liquor store in Rochedale on May 27, a Springwood business on June 30, a Rochedale South convenience store on September 4, a liquor store at Underwood on October 23, a chemist at Springwood on January 13 and a petrol station at Rochedale on January 25.

It will further be alleged the man entered a Springwood sandwich store on Rochedale Road and produced a machete shortly after 10pm on February 10.

It is alleged the man then made demands for cash from the male attendant, who complied, and the man then fled the scene with a sum of cash.

No one was injured as a result of the robbery, and the man was last seen leaving the business on foot.

A 21-year-old Rochedale South man has been charged with seven counts of armed robbery and is scheduled to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A man has been arrested following a robbery at Noarlunga a short time ago.

Just before 3pm, a man entered Dan Murphy’s liquor store on Goldsmith Drive and threatened staff with a knife before running off with alcohol.

Police were quickly on scene and arrested the man a short distance away.

A 19-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with aggravated robbery and refused bail.  He will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow.

No one was physically injured.

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify two men following an armed robbery in Clayton South earlier this week.

Shortly before midnight on 25 January, two men attended a bottle shop on Centre Road wearing balaclavas.

The two men, who were armed with a machete and an axe, then demanded money from the attendant.

After taking a quantity of cash and bottles of alcohol, the two men then left the area on foot, running along Centre Road and down Melaleuca Drive.

One of the men managed to fall over on Melaleuca Drive, smashing the bottles of alcohol.

No staff members were injured during the incident.

Detectives from Kingston Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the armed robbery and have released images and footage of two men they wish to speak to.

The first man is described as being perceived to be of African appearance, tall with a slim build.

At the time he was wearing a white business shirt, dark trousers and black, high-top runners with white soles.

The second man is described as being perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and shorter than the first man.

At the time he was wearing a hooded jumper, dark baggy pants and black Nike runners with white soles.

Police are also investigating whether this incident is linked to a previous armed robbery which occurred at a fast food restaurant on the South Gippsland Highway, Hampton Park about 1.15am on 25 January.

Three males have been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a bottle shop in Orange yesterday afternoon.

About 1.15pm (Sunday 24 January 2016), three males entered a bottle shop on Lords Place, before one of them approached an employee while allegedly armed with a knife.

The employee subsequently fled the location. No one was injured during the incident.

It’s further alleged the trio took several packets of cigarettes, before the group ran from the bottle shop; they were last seen running along Moulder Street.

Officers attached to Canobolas Local Area Command were called to the location a short time later.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

Following inquiries, a 15-year-old male was arrested about 4am today (Monday 25 January 2016) at a hotel on Bathurst Street, Orange.

He was taken to Orange Police Station where it’s alleged he assaulted an officer while being taken into the custody area.

The teen has since been charged with armed robbery in company, assault police and breach bail, and was refused bail to appear in children’s court today. He’s been remanded in custody to appear before children’s court on Monday 7 March 2016.

About 12.20pm today, a 29-year-old man was arrested at a shopping centre on Summer Street, Orange, and taken to Orange Police Station.

Shortly before 3pm this afternoon, an 18-year-old man attended Orange Police Station, where he was also arrested.

Both men have now been charged with armed robbery in company and have been refused bail to appear before Orange Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 26 January 2016).

Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Kirwan this afternoon.

Around 5.30pm a man entered the bottle shop on Kern Brothers Drive before proceeding up to the counter and producing a note demanding cash from the attendant.  The man then produced a knife and placed it on the counter.

The male shop attendant compiled with the demands and the man fled the store with a sum of cash.

No one was physically injured in the robbery.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this evening in Coomera.

Around 7.40pm, a man entered a bottle shop on Maudsland Road armed with a spear gun.

He threatened the attendant and demanded cash, and when the male attendant complied, the man fled the scene on foot and was last seen on foot outside the business.

No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery,

The man is described as being around 180cms tall and had a proportionate build.

Investigations are continuing.

Today police have released CCTV images of a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery at Old Reynella earlier this month.

Just after 11pm on Wednesday 6 January, a man armed with a rifle entered the St Francis Winery on Bridge Street and threatened staff before leaving via a rear entrance with an amount of cash.

At the time of the robbery, the man was wearing a face mask and a distinctive grey hooded jumper with orange writing on the front. He was also wearing grey ‘skate’ shoes with white soles.

Police are investigating following a ram raid burglary in Ringwood this morning.

Investigators have been told a thief used a late-model, light-coloured Hyundai to smash his way into a liquor shop on Wantirna Road about 5.20am.

Once inside, the man stole an amount of money and cigarettes.

Maroondah Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released CCTV of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a bottle shop in Rothwell last night.

Just before 6pm three men, one armed with a knife, entered the Deception Bay Road business and demanded money and alcohol.

The female attendant complied with their demands and the trio left the store on foot with a sum of cash and a quantity of alcohol.

No one was physically injured during the incident.
