A man has been charged following investigations into two alleged robberies in Wollongong.
In the first incident, about midday on Wednesday 24 June 2015, a man entered a newsagency on Crown Street and allegedly assaulted a female employee.
The man fled with cash.
About 12.45pm on Monday 29 June, a man entered a liquor store on Burrelli Street and allegedly threatened the attendant with a knife.
He stole a large sum of cash before fleeing the area in a taxi.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command have been investigating both incidents, which are believed to be linked.
Following inquiries, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Grey Street at Keiraville just before 11.30am yesterday (Thursday 2 July 2015).
A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with robbery, armed robbery and unlicensed driver.
The Keiraville man was bail refused to appear at Port Kembla Local Court today (Friday 3 July 2015).
Police will allege that at about 8pm, a man armed with a knife entered the BWS liquor store on Newton Road and threatened staff, before fleeing with an amount of cash.
Enquiries conducted by Eastern Adelaide detectives revealed the suspect may be in the State’s south-east. A search of a Mount Gambier house led to the man’s arrest there just after 1am today.
The 28-year-old Sheidow Park man was charged with aggravated robbery, and was refused bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police are investigating an armed robbery at a liquor shop at Newton tonight.
Just after 8pm, a man wielding a knife threatened staff at the BWS on Newton Road and stole cash.
The man was last seen running towards Newton Road.
The suspect is described as male, of Caucasian appearance, 172cm, wearing a blue hooded top, khaki jeans and black sand shoes with a white trim near the soles.
There were no injuries.
Police have charged a man following investigations into an alleged armed robbery of a Kingston bottle shop on May 14.
It will be alleged that around 5.45pm the man entered the Juers Street business threatened a female staff member with a pencil and fled with premises with a sum of cash.
A 43-year-old man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow
Police have charged a 30-year-old man from the Glass House Mountains following the alleged armed robbery of a bottle shop yesterday evening.
It will be alleged the man entered the bottle shop on Bruce Parade in the Glass House Mountains at around 6:00pm yesterday and threatened a female staff member with a syringe, demanding money.
He then allegedly fled the business on foot with a sum of cash. Police located and arrested the man a short time later.
The man has been charged with assault, armed robbery and entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 1.
Police are investigating after a man robbed a Rochedale South bottle shop this evening.
Around 7.10pm a man entered the Underwood Road licenced premises armed with a knife. He demanded money from the male attendant.
After obtaining cash the man fled on foot towards Rochedale Road.
The attendant, a 44-year-old man, was not physically harmed during the incident.
Police have released the image of a man who may assist with investigations. The man is described as Pacific Islander appearance, 180cm tall and of solid build. He was wearing a black jumper, black trousers, gloves and had his face obscured by cloth.
Two boys are assisting police with their investigations into the armed robbery of a drive-through bottle shop at Innisfail last night.
It will be alleged two boys entered the Edith Street premises before producing a cane knife and threatening two male attendants.
The pair allegedly demanded staff hand over a quantity of alcohol before fleeing the scene with several stolen bottles of spirits.
No one was physically injured during the incident.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16 are currently assisting police with their investigations into this incident and several other property offences in the area.
Police are investigating a robbery at the Reepham Hotel where two men threatened staff in the drive-thru bottle shop tonight.
Just before 7pm two men, one armed with a hammer, threatened staff at the bottle shop on Churchill Road and stole three bottles of alcohol and cash from the till.
The two men fled in a white Holden Rodeo 4WD.
No one was physically injured.
The two suspects are described as men of Aboriginal appearance, one wearing a blue hooded top.
Logan detectives investigating the armed robbery of a Kingston bottle shop yesterday afternoon are appealing for the man to hand himself in as they believe he may be in need of medical assistance.
Tony Bristow, the detective senior sergeant in charge of Logan CIB said the man had apologised when he robbed the store telling the female attendant that he was ‘sick’.
“This man has committed an armed robbery which has obvious legal consequences but from the information we have received and the footage we have reviewed it appears that he may be ill and may be in need of medical assistance,” Detective Senior Sergeant Bristow said.
Around 5.45pm yesterday a man aged in his 40s and wearing a grey and red shirt, beanie and carrying a yellow backpack, entered the Juers Street business and threatened a female staff member with an object.
After obtaining cash the man ordered two staff members to the rear of the store before he ran off.
The two employees, 46-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, were not physically harmed.
The man is described as being Caucasian and of a heavy build.
Detectives in the state’s south have arrested a man over an alleged armed robbery at Corowa nearly two years ago.
Just after 7pm on Saturday 10 August 2013, a man entered a botte shop on Sanger Street with his face concealed.
The man, who was armed with a knife, confronted the attendant – a 25-year-old man – and demanded money and cigarettes.
The attendant complied and the armed man fled the store.
Police were alerted and officers from Albury Local Area Command attended and have been investigating the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested at Corowa Police Station about 6.45pm yesterday (Sunday 10 May 2015).
The local man was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).
He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Monday 11 May 2015).
