Crimes related to the Petrol Station industry

A man has been charged with four alleged armed robberies following investigations by Mid North Coast Detectives.

Police were called to two armed robberies on the Sunday 4 and Monday 5 September 2016 in the Port Macquarie area. During these incidents a knife was allegedly produced and cash and property was stolen.

In a separate incident, just after 9.50pm (Sunday 6 November 2016), police were called to a service station on High Street, Wauchope, following reports of an armed robbery.

It is alleged a man threatened an employee with a firearm and took cash and cigarettes from the location before he left on foot.

A fourth robbery has then occurred about 8.20pm (Monday 14 November 2016), when an 18-year-old fast food delivery driver was allegedly robbed in Wauchope, by a man armed with a metal pole.

Officers from Mid North Coast Detectives investigated the four incidents and believed them to be related.

As part of ongoing investigations, a 23-year-old man was charged with four counts of armed robbery.

He is currently bail refused on other matters and is due to appear in court again on Thursday 23 February 2017.

Police are investigating after an armed robbery in Blayney overnight.

Police have been told about 10pm (Sunday 22 January 2017), a man entered a service station on Orange Road, Blayney, carrying a firearm.

The man then threatened the shop assistant and demanded money before he left on foot headed towards Binstead Street.

Officers from Chifley Local Area Command attended the location and commenced investigations.

Police wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance and about 160cm tall with a large build and dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black and green long sleeved jumper with a white stripe through the middle and cream coloured pants.

No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.

Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery at Pomona this week have released CCTV footage of a fuel drive-off at Kybong on the same day which may be linked to the offence.

Preliminary information indicates around 2.30am on December 27 two men have driven a car stolen from a residence at Strathpine on December 15 into a service station off the Bruce Highway at Kybong.

One of the men has then proceeded to fill up a number of petrol cans with fuel before leaving the scene in the vehicle without paying.

The same car has then been involved in the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Pomona around 6.30pm that evening.

A man entered the business on Factory Street, armed with what appeared to be a replica rifle, and demanded money from a 29-year-old male attendant before fleeing empty-handed in the vehicle driven by another man.

The 2014 silver Suzuki Kizashi (QLD reg 582 VAB) was last seen travelling north on Factory Street.

One man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 163cm tall, aged in his early 20s with a slim build and was wearing khaki/military-style clothing including a helmet, camouflage paint and a khaki covering over part of his face.

The male driver is described as Caucasian in appearance and wearing a dark t-shirt.

No one was physically injured during either incident.

Police are investigating following the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Pomona last night.

Initial investigations indicate at around 6:35pm a man entered the business on Factory Street, armed with what appeared to be a replica rifle, and demanded money from a 29-year-old male attendant.

The attendant ran from the building and was followed out by the man who then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by another man.

Police have released images of a distinctive blue sedan as part of their investigations into an armed robbery at a service station in Glenwood yesterday afternoon (December 21).

Initial information suggests around 1.20pm a car entered the driveway of the service station just off the Bruce Highway and parked near the petrol bowsers.

A male passenger got out and entered the store armed with a machete and threatened two customers.

The man then ordered the store attendant to find a bag and put cash inside.

The attendant complied and the man took a sum of money and fled the scene in the waiting car which drove off at high speed.

The car (pictured) is described as a dark blue sedan, possibly a Holden VN Commodore or VS Toyota Lexen with no registration plates attached.

The words “Cop Hunter” are painted in white on the bonnet as well as “Crime does pay” on one side of the vehicle and “Merry Christmas” on the right side of the boot. The front head lights are also painted over.

The male passenger is described as about 175cm tall with a stock build and was wearing a short sleeved shirt, dark shorts and a dark balaclava.

The male driver was wearing a high-vis yellow long sleeved shirt and yellow motorcycle helmet.

Police have also images of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigations.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police are investigating after an armed robbery in Maryville overnight.

Police have been told, about 10.30pm (Monday 2 January 2017), three juveniles entered a service station on Hannell Street, Maryville, and approached the counter. One of the juveniles threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money.

While this occurred, two other juveniles stole numerous items from the store.

They then left the store with cash and merchandise and were last seen headed on foot in a southerly direction.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended the location and established a crime scene.

Police would like to speak to three juveniles who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The three are all described as being in their mid to late teens. One was last seen wearing a darker coloured hooded jumper and the other two were last seen wearing lighter coloured hooded jumpers.

Police are investigating after a man armed with a baseball bat robbed a service station of an empty cash tray at Forestdale in the early hours of this morning.

Around 2am a man and a woman in a silver older model sedan attended the Johnson Road premises.

The man got out of the car and threw a besser brick at the front entrance doors causing it to crack.

He then kicked in the door causing the glass to shatter. He returned to the vehicle and armed himself with a baseball bat before entered the premises through the shattered door.

The man made demands for money and the 27-year-old male employee retreated and locked himself in a back room.

The offender removed an empty cash till from the register.

While attempting to leave the man slipped on the floor. At this time the woman entered the premises and both fled the business through the shattered door with the empty cash tray.

The man and the woman got back into the car and were last seen heading west on Johnson Road towards Carol Park.

No one was physically injured in the incident.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempted armed robbery of a service station at St Andrews last night.
About 10.30pm (Saturday 17 December 2016), while two male employees, aged 21 and 24, commenced closing procedures, two masked men, one armed with a knife, and the other with a baseball bat entered the store on Stranraer Drive, St Andrews.

The armed men demanded the employees to move away from the counter area. Neither employees moved, with both men leaving the store empty-handed.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery of a service station in Newcastle last night.

About 10.45pm (Thursday 15 December 2016), two masked men, one armed with a firearm, entered a service station on Maitland Road, Islington, and demanded money and cigarettes.

Two employees, a 50-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, were forced to hand over cash and cigarettes before the men fled the store.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As investigations continue, police would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone who may have information that could assist

Police have released CCTV vision of a man who may be able to assist with investigations into two robberies at Heathwood and Forestdale on the weekend.

Initial investigations indicate on Saturday December 3 just before 4am two males have entered a service station at Stapylton Road, Heathwood (vision below).

They produced knives and threatened the 19-year-old employee demanding cash.

The pair stole cash and fled the scene in a stolen grey Honda CR-V, registration 053TME (similar to that pictured).

Earlier at around 3.45am the same two males entered a service station on Johnson Road, Forestdale.

Both have produced knives and threatened the 25-year-old staff member demanding cash and cigarettes.

The pair fled empty handed when they were unable to gain access to the console area.

Neither employee was physically injured during the incidents.
