Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery of a service station in Auburn late last night.
About 10.40pm (Thursday 18 April 2014), the attendant, a 26-year-old man, was on the forecourt of a service station on Cumberland Road, when he was approached by two men walking from Wellington Road.
One of the men grabbed the attendant, threatened him with a knife and forced him back into the shop.
He then demanded money, the attendant complied handing over a sum of cash. The second man also demanded money, before both men ran from the shop.
Police were contacted and officers from Flemington Local Area Command attended, established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
The scene was examined by forensic specialists.
One of the men was described as large build, about 183cm tall, wearing a white shirt, blue hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants and white shoes.
The second man was described as medium build, about 175cm tall, wearing a blue shirt, dark coloured jumper, grey pants and black shoes.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time or saw suspicious behaviour to contact authorities.
Police investigating the armed robbery of two service stations in Newcastle last week have released a CCTV image of a person who may be able to assist with inquiries.
About 12.30am on Wednesday 9 April 2014, a woman entered the store on Thomas Street, armed with a firearm.
She threatened the employee and demanded cash before fleeing with cigarettes and money.
About 12.45am, a woman entered a service station on Maitland Street at Mayfield armed with a firearm.
The woman threatened the attendant before fleeing with food items.
Detectives from Newcastle City Local Area Command believe the incidents are linked and are appealing for public assistance in an attempt to identify and locate the woman involved.
Investigators have released an image of a woman they believe can assist with inquiries. The woman in the image is of Caucasian appearance and wearing a blue shirt and a beanie.
A man has been charged following an armed robbery at a service station on Bermuda Street in Burleigh Waters on April 8, 2014.
It will be alleged a man’s silver car was stolen at knifepoint during the incident.
A 27-year-old man from Broadbeach has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, going armed as to cause fear, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

The man fled the area in the stolen vehicle, a silver 2009 Holden Cruze with Queensland registration 250RKN.
He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 175cm tall, aged between 25-30 years old with blue eyes and shaved head.
He was wearing a dark hooded jacket, black jeans and a light printed camouflage t-shirt.
No one was physically injured during the incident.

Elizabeth Police are investigating two robberies that occurred overnight in Smithfield. Just after 11.30pm a man entered the On The Run service station on Main North Road armed with a screwdriver. He jumped the counter and grabbed cigarettes and some money. He also confronted a customer and took her handbag. The man is described as Caucasian, wearing a light coloured hooded top, trousers and a mask. At 5am police were then called to the Coles Express service station on the other side of Main North Road after three men armed with a stick took cash. Two men stood at the door while the other man threatened the attendant with a broom handle and money and cigarettes. The man armed with the stick was of slim build, 18-20 years old, wearing a black Everlast hooded top, black shorts, a black backpack, and black and white sneakers with red highlights. The second suspect was wearing a purple hooded top, black track pants, a white bandana over his face, black fingerless gloves and dark coloured shoes. The three men ran off on foot. No one was physically injured in either robbery. Elizabeth Police are investigating a service station robbery at Parafield overnight. Just after 4am, a man armed with a machete smashed the front doors of the BP service station on Kings Road at Parafield. Once inside he threatened the console operator before running off carrying the shop’s till. The suspect is described as a man of Asian appearance, 25-35-years-old, about 170cms or 5’8″ tall, with a slim build, wearing black clothing and a black scarf around his face. Police are appealing for information after separate armed robberies of service stations in Wallsend and Mayfield yesterday.
About 12.20am (Wednesday 9 April 2014), a person drove a blue Holden Commodore sedan to a service station on the Industrial Highway, Mayfield, and refilled their fuel tank.
When the person was unsuccessful in paying via the pay wave system, they allegedly sped away from the station.
About 12.30am (Wednesday 9 April 2014), a person entered a service station on Thomas Street, Wallsend, and asked for a packet of cigarettes.
The person allegedly pointed a firearm at the console operator and demanded money.
The attendant complied with their request, and the person fled the station with cash and cigarettes. The offender was last seen walking towards Thomas Street.
In the third incident, about 1am (Wednesday 9 April 2014), a person entered a service station on Maitland Road, Mayfield, and approached the console operator after selecting three ice creams.
The person requested two packets of cigarettes before allegedly producing a handgun and demanding money.
The attendant questioned the offender, who then fled the service station on foot with the ice creams and cigarettes. They were not given any money.
The offender was last seen walking in an easterly direction on Maitland Road.
No description is currently available of the offender.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at Chinderah, about 4km north west of Kingscliff.
About 8.30pm yesterday, (Tuesday 8 April 2014), a 58-year-old man was working at a service station on the Old Pacific Highway when a man armed with a knife entered the store and demanded money.
He fled the scene in a southerly direction a short time later with cash.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police were called and established a crime scene.
As investigations continue, detectives would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
He is described as being about 170cm – 175cm tall, and was seen wearing a long-sleeve high-visibility orange and black jacket and had a cloth over his face.
Police are appealing for information following the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Liverpool this morning.
About 1am (Saturday 5 April 2014), a man who had his face covered, approached a service station on Elizabeth Drive, and requested to be let inside the store.
The employee refused to let the man in and the alleged offender used a garden pick to smash the security glass of the checkout area.
The weapon broke and the alleged offender ran away, leaving the weapon behind.
He was last seen running towards McLean Street.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident and police were called to the scene.
A patrol of the area was conducted; however the man could not be located.
Investigators would like to speak to a man described as being of solid build, wearing a grey hooded jumper with black writing across the front, grey shorts and leggings. The man was wearing gloves and was barefoot.
