Crimes related to the Petrol Station industry

Police have charged a 21-year-old Cleveland man with armed robbery following investigations into the robbery of a Capalaba service station yesterday afternoon.

It will be alleged around 5.30pm a man entered an Old Cleveland Road business armed with a knife, demanding money from a female attendant and threatening a male customer.

Police attended the scene and were allegedly threatened by the man brandishing the knife before officers took him into custody.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court today where he also faces charges of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, stealing, serious assault and two counts of serious assault police.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred overnight in Childers.

Shortly before 7.45pm, two men have entered a road house on the Bruce Highway and one of them produced a knife.

They made demands for cash, and the female attendant has complied and the two men have then left the scene with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes.

The attendant wasn’t physically injured during the robbery.

The two men are both described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 180cms tall and were wearing hooded jumpers.

Police have today released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the aggravated robbery of a service station at St Agnes early on Saturday. About 1am a man entered the service station on North East Rd and threatened the console operator before taking cash and leaving the premises. No weapon was seen during the incident. The man pictured, who was of Caucasian appearance and aged in his early 20s, was last seen walking east towards the St Agnes Shopping Centre. He was about 170cm tall, clean shaven with a thin build and short messy dark hair. Sturt police are investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred at a Seaview Downs service station overnight.

Just after 12.30am, a man armed with a hammer and wearing a balaclava entered the service station on Seacombe Road and demanded cash from the attendant. A small amount of money was handed over and the suspect made off on foot.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police searched the area with the assistance of a police dog patrol but could not locate the suspects.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 18 years old, about 170 cm tall, average build, wearing all black, with an Australian accent. He was last seen heading east on Seacombe Road.

Seaview Downs service station robbery

Police are investigating an attempted aggravated robbery at the Caltex on Salisbury Highway at Salisbury Downs overnight. At about 10.15pm, two men entered the Caltex, one allegedly armed with a box cutter and threatened the attendant, the other standing watch at the door with an iron bar. The suspects left empty handed. No one was physically injured. A police dog patrol attended the area and located a track along Londonderry Avenue but the suspects could not be located. The suspect who approached the counter is described as Caucasian, 180cm tall, late 20s, slim build, wearing a brown long sleeved jacket with a hood, a black mask and white sunglasses. Caltex Salisbury Downs suspects

The quick thinking of a console operator has led to the arrest of a man after he tried to rob a Port Adelaide service station overnight. Just before 3am, the man entered the Liberty Service Station on Grand Junction Road and approached the counter brandishing a knife demanding money. The quick thinking console operator activated the hold up screens to protect himself from the suspect, then locked the doors to prevent the robber from leaving and phoned police. The male suspect attempted to smash his way out using a fire extinguisher without success, with police patrols arriving a short time later arresting the man. An 18-year-old man of no fixed placed was arrested and charged with attempt aggravated robbery of the service station, he has been refused police bail to appear Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Golden Grove Police are investigating a service station robbery at St Agnes overnight where cash was stolen. Just after 1am, a man entered the Caltex Service Station on North East Road, threatened the console operator demanding money. No weapons were sighted and the man fled on foot with small amount of cash. The male suspect is described as Caucasian, about 175cms, wearing a dark hooded top, black t-shirt with a light coloured motif on the front and dark coloured jeans. Police have charged a man after a machete was allegedly used to rob a service station at Sydenham last week.

Officers from Redfern and Newtown Local Area Command were patrolling yesterday as part of a joint investigation, when they saw an 18-year-old man on Pitt Street in Waterloo.

Police arrested the man a short time later in the basement of a nearby unit block.

The man was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was interviewed about three incidents:

• the robbery of a service station in Sydenham on Thursday 6 March 2014;

• the assault and robbery of a motorist on Wellington Street in Waterloo on 25 January 2014; and,

• the assault of a man in the stairwell of a unit complex at Pagewood on 31 January 2014.

The man has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, larceny and robbery armed with an offensive weapon. He was also charged with four outstanding warrants.

He has been refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court today.

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a service station in St Marys earlier this year.

About 2pm on Saturday 18 January 2014, a man armed with a knife entered the station on Glossop Street.

He threatened an attendant with the weapon, before fleeing the location with cash.

The man was last seen running north along Glossop Street.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers attached to St Marys Local Area Command were alerted to the incident and attended the location a short time later.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

Police also conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, but the man was not found

Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident and have now released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist in their investigation.

The man depicted in the images is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 180cm tall, with short dark curly hair and of a large build.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black shorts and may also have a sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

 

Anyone who knows the man’s identity or has any information that could assist investigators is urged to come forward.

A teenage girl has been charged over an alleged armed robbery in Granville last year.

In January 2014, officers attached to the Metropolitan Robbery Unit established Strike Force Tinga, to investigate a number of armed robberies at service stations in Sydney’s south west in December 2013.

Specifically, on Wednesday 25 December 2013, a male and a female entered a service station on Blaxcell Street, allegedly armed with a Samurai sword and demanded money. They fled the scene with cash.

About 8am today (Friday 7 March 2014), police executed a search warrant at a home on Namur Street, Granville, where they seized clothing and mobile phones.

A 16-year-old girl was arrested at the scene and taken to Parramatta Police Station, where she was charged with robbery in company whilst armed with offensive weapon.

She was granted conditional bail, to appear at children’s court on Monday 24 April 2014.

Police investigations continue.
