Police are investigating the armed robbery of a newsagent in Brighton this morning.

At 6.30am, a man armed with a large knife entered the Beaconsfield Terrace shop and demanded cash and cigarettes from the 66-year-old female employee.

The man left the scene with a sum of money.

The staff member was not physically injured.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 178cm tall with a slim build and was wearing a grey hooded jumper, black track pants with a red stripe, red gloves, white joggers and had his face covered with a dark-coloured bandanna.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are continuing.

Detectives from Frankston Embona Taskforce are investigating a series of armed robberies which have taken place in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs.

The armed robberies took place in Dandenong South, Braeside, Carrum Downs, Frankston and Baxter between 10 and 20 June.

The first incident occurred just after 11am on 10 June at a café on Abbotts Road in Dandenong South.

A male has parked a Nissan Navara ute with false numberplates at the rear of the shop, then entered the café armed with a knife and hammer.

The man then made demands for cash and cigarettes and was given quantities of both.

He then left the premises and the vehicle was sighted travelling east towards the South Gippsland Highway.

At the time of the incident the man was wearing a black mask and a hooded jumper.

The second incident occurred at a foot outlet on Industrial Drive, Braeside about 5.15am on 14 June.

A man entered the store armed with a knife and tyre lever, threatening staff members and demanding cash.

He also demanded access to an ATM, which staff members weren’t able to provide, so he kicked it several times.

He then left with a quantity of cash and got into a silver coloured 4×4 ute.

The man has been described as being about 168cm tall with a thin build.

At the time he was wearing a black balaclava, black hooded jumper and light coloured jeans.

The third incident occurred about 9am on 18 June at a store on Lathams Road, Carrum Downs.

A man entered the store armed with a knife and made demands for cash.

Staff handed over a quantity of money and the man then smashed a glass display and stole two PENN surf fishing reels, valued at about $800 each.

The man was then seen to drive away in a silver Nissan Navara ute.

The fourth incident occurred about 5.45pm on 19 June at a store on Beach Street, Frankston.

A man entered the store armed with a bar and made demands for cash.

He then tore a till off the bench, ripping plug from it’s wall socket.

The man then left in a silver Nissan Navara ute.

He has been described as wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

The fifth incident occurred just after 6.40pm on 20 June at a supermarket on the Baxter-Tooradin Road in Baxter.

A man has parked a silver Nissan Navara ute in a disabled car space outside the supermarket and then entered the store carrying a knife and a duffle bag.

A approached a staff member at the express lanes and made a demand for cash.

After being given a quantity of money, he drove away in the vehicle.

No one was physically injured during any of the incidents.

Investigators have released CCTV from the Frankston incident and an image of the vehicle from the Carrum Downs incident.

They believe the same vehicle was used in each of the incidents, a silver Nissan Navara ute with stolen number plates ZVA 874.

A man has been charged following an armed robbery that occurred at a Glass House Mountains service station on June 5.

At 2am, a man allegedly entered the business on Steve Irwin Way armed with a firearm and threatened the attendant before fleeing in a vehicle.

A 22-year-old Wamuran man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and stealing and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Police are re-appealing for information following an armed robbery at Cessnock in April 2017.

Just after 2.30pm on Saturday 1 April 2017, a 27-year-old man was working at a newsagency on Wollombi Road.

A man armed with a knife and his face covered, entered the store and demanded cash.

The worker complied with the demand before the man left the store.

Police from Central Hunter Local Area Command have released CCTV images of a man they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

The man is described as wearing a balaclava, a hooded light grey jacket with a dark stripe down the arms, black gloves, dark-coloured long pants and dark shoes with white socks.

Police have also released a CCTV image of a vehicle they believe may be connected to the robbery.

The vehicle is described as a silver Mitsubishi Mirage with yellow and black number plates, standard hub caps and damage to the left rear wheel arch.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a store in Baulkham Hills last night.

Just before 8.45pm (Saturday 10 June 2017), a 53-year-old female employee was working behind the counter at a store in Glanmire Road, when she was confronted by two men who entered the store.

Police have been told the men armed with a cricket bat and a machete threatened the employee, demanding cash.

The pair ran from the store, taking cash and alcohol.

The staff member was uninjured.

Officers attached to The Hills Local Area Command were called and established a crime scene.

As they continue their investigations, police would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being about 170-180cm tall. He was wearing a black hooded jumper, grey pants, and black shoes.

The second man is described as being about 160-170cm tall. He was wearing a black and cream hooded jumper, dark coloured pants, and black shoes.

They were both wearing gloves and had their faces concealed with black masks.

Police have charged two boys following the investigation of an armed robbery of a business in Marcoola on May 30.

It will be alleged at 1:10am, two people carrying knives entered the business on David Low Way. They made demands to the shop owner, a 44-year-old man, for money, cigarettes and a glass object.

On Saturday June 3, after receiving anonymous information through Crime Stoppers, police located two 16-year-old boys at their residence in Marcoola. They will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred this evening in Kallangur.

Initial information suggests that a man entered a business on Anzac Ave around 7.25pm and produced a knife.

He then demanded money from the female attendant. She complied and the man fled the scene with a sum of cash.

No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.

The man is described as proportionate build, wearing a hooded black jumper, tan long pants, with his face covered and carrying a bag.

Investigations are continuing.

A Salisbury Downs man will face court on Monday, after he was arrested over the robberies yesterday on a gift shop at Blackwood and an upholstery business at Onkaparinga Hills.

Police will allege just after 3pm on Friday 26 May, a man entered a florist on Main Road, Blackwood, allegedly threatened a woman employee and demanded cash. He stole an amount of money and ran from the shop towards a nearby hardware store when he had a car waiting.

Then just before 4.30pm yesterday, the same person allegedly threatened a man and robbed an upholstery business on Upper Penneys Hill Road, Onkaparinga Hills.

The suspect left both stores in a stolen white 2000 Nissan station wagon, which was later found  abandoned at Hackham West.

Just after 1pm on Saturday 27 May, a police patrol stopped a man fitting the description of the robbery suspect walking near the Southern Expressway at Hackham West.  A search of the man’s backpack uncovered a black handled knife, gloves, pliers and a screwdriver.

The 29-year-old man from Salisbury Downs was then arrested for carrying an offensive and South Coast CIB were advised as to the similarity of the suspect with the recent robberies.

Further enquiries by South Coast CIB Detectives which included checking CCTV and the suspect’s clothing,  resulted in the arrested man being further  charged with aggravated robbery and attempt aggravated robbery from yesterday’s incidents at Blackwood and Onkaparinga Hills. The man also faces charges of illegal use of a motor vehicle and and theft of petrol.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday 29 May

Members from Strike Force Winx have charged a 19-year-old male with aggravated assault in Alice Springs.

Detective Sergeant Trent Abbott said the incident occurred at a business on Railway Terrace on Sunday 28 May.

“It is alleged the offender assaulted three people before he was restrained by members of the public,” he said.

“Police arrived a short time later and placed the male under arrest.”

The 19-year-old was charged with:

  • Assault with intent to steal
  • Aggravated assault (x3)
  • Damage to property
  • Armed with offensive weapon
  • Disorderly behaviour.

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detectives have charged a man following an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Atherton yesterday morning.

It will be alleged at around 11:45am a man entered a computer game store at a shopping centre on Cook Street armed with a knife.

Police will further allege the man demanded money from an employee before fleeing the scene with a sum of cash.

No one was physically injured during the robbery.

As a result of their investigations police took a man into custody at a motel in Mareeba just before midnight.

A 24-year-old Tolga man has been charged with armed robbery and is due to appear in Mareeba Magistrates Court on May 22.
