Altona North Embona Taskforce detectives have arrested a man following a number of armed robberies in Maribyrnong and Braybrook.

Investigators have charged the 34-year-old Maidstone man over four armed robberies committed on service stations in Maidstone and Maribyrnong, a Maidstone pharmacy and a restaurant in Braybrook.

It is alleged that the robberies were committed over a two month period, commencing at the end of September with the last robbery committed on 27 November.

On each occasion the man was allegedly armed with a firearm and threatened staff before fleeing with an amount of cash.

He has been charged with four counts of armed robbery and four offences against the bail act.

He is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this morning.

Police have arrested two men following a series of armed robberies in Sebastopol and Ararat.

The first incident allegedly occurred on 21 October at a licensed venue on High Street, Ararat about 12.35am.

The second incident occurred at a sporting club on Albert Street on 29 October about 11.50pm.

The third incident occurred at the same licensed venue on High Street, Ararat on 18 November about 10.30pm.

No staff were physically injured during the robberies.

A 31-year-old Melton West man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery relating to incidents on 21 October and 18 November.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 12 February.

A 41-year-old Sebastopol man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery relating to the incidents on 29 October and 18 November.

He has been remanded to appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on 21 February.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged assault and attempted robbery in Prahran on 11 October.

It is alleged two males approached a 15-year-old at a Malvern Road fast-food restaurant and made demands for his property about 10pm.

The male was then assaulted outside the store before members of the public intervened.

He was not injured.

A 19-year-old Prahran man has since been arrested and interviewed. He is expected to be charged on summons

One male remains outstanding in relation to the incident.

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Frankston yesterday evening.

It is alleged a man with an edged weapon threatened an employee at a Nepean Highway service station shortly after 5.50pm.

He stole an amount of cash before fleeing the scene in a Holden Commodore.

An off-duty police officer sighted the Holden driving erratically in the vicinity of Oliver’s Hill where it crashed into a Nissan Navara.

The 24-year-old was arrested a short time later as he allegedly attempted to flee on foot towards the foreshore.

He has since been charged with armed robbery, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and a number of driving-related offences.

The man has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 4 December.

A man has been arrested following an alleged armed robbery in Frankston yesterday evening.

Investigators have been told a man entered the Nepean Highway service station about 5.50pm and went in to a public toilet.

A short time later the man exited the toilet, approached the counter and allegedly threatened an employee with n edged weapon.

He stole an amount of cash before fleeing the scene in a Holden Commodore.

Two men have been arrested following an alleged attempted theft from a Melbourne chemist this evening (26 November).

Police were called to the Bourke Street store about 8.50pm after reports two men had allegedly tried to steal some items.

It is alleged one of the men produced a knife and assaulted a security guard after being confronted.

The security guard sustained minor injuries.

The pair then fled the store empty-handed.

A 24-year-old Ferntree Gully man and 22-year-old Burwood man were arrested by police shortly after on Elizabeth Street.

They are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.

The first incident took place on 30 September at a service station on Hampstead Road.

Investigators have been told a man entered the store about 9.10pm and produced a firearm, making threats and demanding cash from the attendant.

The staff member handed over a quantity of money and the man fled the store.

Detectives believe the same man attended a pharmacy on Hampstead Road shortly before 9pm on 17 October.

On this occasion, the man again produced a firearm and stole an amount of cash from the register before fleeing west along Hampstead Road.

No one was injured during either incident.

Police have released images and CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived as Caucasian in appearance and about 170-180cm tall.

The man was wearing grey tracksuit pants and a black hooded jacket during the first incident, and a black jacket, dark blue pants and a beanie at the time of the second.

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a 31-year-old man following two armed robberies at the same licensed premises in Ararat over the past two months.

The Melton West man was charged with two counts of armed robbery.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

It’s alleged the incidents occurred at a High Street business on 21 October and 18 November.

A 33-year-old woman was also charged with possess drug of dependence and was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 26 March 2019.

Police are appealing for help to identify a man following a petrol theft in Taylors Lakes last month.

It is believed a silver Ford Focus bearing stolen registration plates attended a service station on the Melton Highway about 2.45pm on 21 October.

The driver filled the car up with fuel before getting back into the vehicle and driving away without any attempt to pay.

Detectives have released an image of the man in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information on his identity.

He is perceived as Caucasian in appearance and aged between 20 and 25 years old.

The man was wearing a black hoody, white T-shirt, dark pants, white shoes and a black hat.

It is believed he had a female passenger with him at the time.

The car is bearing registration plates WZQ400.

Police are investigating following an armed robbery at a Preston service station last month.

Detectives have been told a man attended the Murray Road service station just before 9.15pm on 23 October.

The man approached the counter and revealed a knife before making demands for cash and cigarettes.

Investigators believe the offender was with another man just prior to the robbery and are appealing for public assistance to identify the pair.

CCTV vision and images have been released of two men who investigators believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
