A man has been charged after an attempted armed robbery in the Hunter region on Wednesday.
About 8.30pm (Wednesday 5 July 2017), a man entered a service station on High Street, Greta.
The man, armed with a knife, approached two employees and demanded money.
One of the male staff members approached the unknown man and an altercation ensued.
The man fled empty handed in a Holden utility. No one was injured during the incident.
A short time later, the Holden utility was found abandoned on Water Street, Greta. A search of the vehicle located a knife, alleged to be involved in the incident.
The items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.
Following inquiries, yesterday afternoon (Thursday 6 July 2017), a 30-year-old man attended Maitland Police Station and was arrested.
He was charged with attempted robbery whilst armed and granted conditional bail to appear at Singleton Local Court on Thursday 17 August 2017.
Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a service station in Nemingha, Tamworth, earlier today.
About 6.10am (Thursday 13 July 2017), two men dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered, entered the service station on Armidale Road armed with a crow bar.
They approached the counter and demanded cash from the till. The female employee complied with their demands and handed over an amount of cash.
One offender walked into the kitchen where they stole the woman’s handbag.
The men located an ATM that was inside the store and they managed to break open the machine and steal the cash boxes, before escaping in a distinctive two-coloured Nissan Pintara sedan that was waiting outside. The vehicle was last seen heading north along the New England Highway.
The vehicle was later recovered in Finch Place Calala. It was reported stolen from a Maxwell Street West Tamworth address prior to the armed robbery.
It is believed members of the community may have seen the distinctive vehicle between 4am and 6.30am.

The man armed with the knife, threatened the woman, demanding cash.
A man in the store at the time tackled the second man, before he was assaulted with the firearm.
Following a struggle, the man was able to wrestle the firearm from the armed man.
Both armed men ran from the store, fleeing in a stolen white Mitsubishi Magna which was later recovered on fire in Anthony Road, South Tamworth
Officers from Oxley Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene. The firearm was seized and will be forensically examined.
Investigators as part of their inquiries would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist.
The man depicted is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 18-25 years, about 170cm tall, of a medium build, and with a short trimmed beard. He was last seen wearing a black and pink/purple hooded jumper, brown pants, white shoes, and carrying a large hunting knife.
The second man is described as being of a medium/solid build. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper, grey track pants, black shoes, with a balaclava covering his face, and was carrying a firearm.
Police are appealing for assistance following an armed robbery on the state’s North Coast yesterday.
A man armed with a knife entered a service station on Ocean Parade, Coffs Harbour, about 4pm on Sunday 2 July 2017, and threatened a staff member.
The staff member handed over cash and cigarettes to the man, before he fled the scene toward nearby bushland. The employee was not injured during the incident.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended and have commenced an investigation.

Police have charged a man following the investigation into the armed robbery of a service station in Southport last night.
It will be alleged that around 7.15pm, a man carrying a metal bar entered a service station on Smith Street and made demands of the operator for cigarettes and a sum of money.
A member of the public who was in the store at the time of the robbery disarmed the offender and placed him on the ground until police arrived.
No-one was physically injured during the incident.

At 8.20pm, a man armed with a knife entered the Scotland Street business while a second man remained standing by the main access door.
The man demanded cash and cigarettes from the employee.
The pair left the scene with a sum of money and was last seen heading north on Cran Street towards the Burnett River.

The men are described as being 175cm tall with average builds, possibly aged in their mid-20s, and were wearing black hooded jumpers and black shoes. One man was wearing light jeans while the other was wearing black tracksuit pants.
