Crimes related to the Petrol Station industry

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a service station at Menai this morning.

Shortly after 1.30am (Sunday 3 May 2015), a man entered a service station on Menai Road and approached the 30-year-old male console operator.

The man who had his face covered removed a backpack and placed his hand inside.

After the offender demanded cash, the employee complied, handing over a quantity of money.

The offender fled from the store and was last seen running towards Menai Road.

Police from Sutherland Local Area Command attended and conducted a search for the man but he was able to evade officers.

The employee was not injured during the robbery.

Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to come forward and a description of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries has been released.

The man was of Caucasian appearance and between 20 and 25-years-old. He had a black beard and was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit top and pants with white sneakers.

His face was covered with black material and he carried a black and red backpack.

Police have charged two men following an armed robbery that occurred in Warwick overnight.

Around 8.30pm, a man has entered a service station on Helene Street and approached the counter.

Police will allege that he produced a knife, threatened the attendant and fled the scene with a quantity of cash.

The attendant wasn’t physically injured as a result, and two men were taken into custody a short time later.

A 19-year-old Warwick man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and possession of a utensil.

He is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court today.

An 18-year-old Warwick man has also been charged with one count of armed robbery in company and is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on May 6

Today a rapid response by Police from Ferny Grove Police Station and the Dog Squad has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old male on multiple charges including the Armed Robbery of a service station on Osborne Road, Mitchelton.

It will be alleged just after 7am the man, whilst armed with a knife, has attended the service station and demanded money from the cashier. The man stole a small quantity of money and left the service station on a bicycle.

Quick thinking police began cordoning off the area and subsequently sighted the man at the Mitchelton Railway Station. Shortly thereafter the man was taken into custody and conveyed to the Ferny Grove Police Station. Detectives later charged him with Robbery whilst Armed, Trespassing on a Railway, Obstructing Police, Stealing and Possessing a Knife in Public. Further charges are expected.

“The swift response by local police assisted by the Dog Squad has led to the arrest of an armed robbery offender this morning. A great outcome for the victim, the police and the broader community,” said Acting Inspector Mat Ryan, Inner West Patrol Group.

The man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday April 17.

A 32-year-old man is assisting police with their investigation into an armed robbery at a Mitchelton service station this morning.

At 7am, a man armed with a knife entered the Burwood Road petrol station and demanded a staff member hand over money.

The man left the station on a bicycle with a sum of cash.

Investigations are continuing.

Update: Two men have been arrested and charged after a hold-up in Erindale early this morning

At 12.40am this morning Police responded to a report of a robbery at a petrol station in Erindale.

Upon arrival it was discovered that two men had entered the store and stolen cash and cigarettes. During the robbery, an attendant received minor injuries when he was struck in the wrist with a pole. The suspects fled the scene in a stolen car.

About five minutes later, the car was spotted by STAR Group patrols on Main North Road at Medindie. Police signalled for the car to stop on Barton Terrace at North Adelaide, but it sped off onto Torrens Road.

Police with the assistance of the Police Helicopter (PolAir) pursued the car through numerous backstreets to Port Road and to Henley Beach Road.

It was then followed to Anzac Highway where it travelled south down Morphett Road, to Seacombe Road and then Brighton Road.

The car eventually made its way back to Camden Park, where it was dumped on Carlisle Street and the offenders ran from the car.

One suspect was caught in a nearby yard by patrols.

Cordons were put in place by patrols and with the assistance of Police Dogs Bosco and Ruger the second offender was found hiding in an adjoining street inside a wheelie bin.

Initial enquiries have revealed the car was stolen from a house break-in on Friday 10 April at Camden Park.

A 17-year-old male from Nailsworth has been charged with aggravated robbery, illegal use of a motor vehicle and breach of bail. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court later today.

A 18-year-old man from Royal Park has been charged with aggravated robbery, illegal use of a motor vehicle and engage in a police pursuit. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a man following an armed robbery at a service station in Watervale last month.

The man was allegedly dressed in female clothing when he entered a service station on Taylors Road just before 7.30pm on Monday 30 March.

He allegedly produced what appeared to be a home-made machine gun from a black bag and demanded money.

A 23-year-old Taylors Hill man was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of armed robbery.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Police are seeking to identify a man they believe may have witnessed the armed robbery of a service station at West Gosford this morning.

Police from Brisbane Water Local Area Command were called to the business on the Central Coast Highway about 12.15am today (Tuesday 21 April 2015), responding to reports a staff member had been threatened by two men, one armed with a knife.

The employee handed over cash and the men ran from the scene, last seen running towards Hely Street, Gosford.

The 28-year-old male attendant was not injured in the incident.

Police have now issued a description of two men they believe can assist with their investigation.

The first man is described as being about 173cm tall, between 60kg-80kg, with his face obscured. At the time he was wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

The second man is described as being about 183cm tall with a thin build. He also had his face covered. At the time he was wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

Police also believe a man may have witnessed the incident and have information vital to the investigators.

Investigators have been told this man was possibly aged in his 50s and was believed to be the driver of a gold-coloured sedan, which was stopped outside the shop.

 

They are appealing for that man to come forward and contact detectives at Gosford.

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery of a service station in Wyee on Saturday night.

About 10.50pm (Saturday 18 April 2015), officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were called to a service station on Wyee Road, following reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told two men, one armed with a firearm, entered the service station and threatened a 21-year-old male staff member.

The pair fled the scene on foot along Summerhayes Road, taking cash. The employee wasn’t injured in the incident.

Police were called and established a crime scene.

As inquiries into the incident continue, detectives would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist them.

Both men are described as being of large build, wearing dark hooded jumpers and masks.

One of the men was also seen wearing blue shorts, thongs; and the second man was seen wearing dark tracksuit pants and a black backpack.

A man is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court this morning charged over the alleged armed robbery of a service station last week.

Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged robbery of the business on Maitland Road, Mayfield, about 3.30am last Thursday (16 April 2015).

Police say a man, allegedly armed with a knife, confronted the attendant and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The attendant complied and the man left the service station.

At 11.30am yesterday (Monday 20 April 2015), Newcastle detectives attended a home in Hanbury Street, Mayfield, where a 21-year old man was arrested.

He was taken to Newcastle Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was bail refused to attend Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 21 April 2015).

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a service station in Robina early this morning.

Initial information suggests that just before 2am, a man has entered the service station on Ron Penhaligon Way and produced a gun.

The man has made threats and demanded cash from the attendant who has complied and handed over a sum of cash. The man has then fled on foot from the service station.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall and was wearing a black hoodie with a black and white bandanna covering his face, black shorts and black and white shoes.

No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.

Investigations are continuing.
