A Redlynch pizza shop was robbed by a man armed with a handgun and wearing a motorcycle helmet last night.
Preliminary information indicates the man entered the pizza shop located within a Larsen Road, Redlynch shopping centre just before midnight, November 14.
The man threatened staff before fleeing with a sum of cash.
No one was physically injured during the robbery and police investigations are continuing.
Police have appealed for information from the community after a pizza store was held up at Newcastle West overnight.
Shortly before 11pm yesterday (Wednesday 18 November 2015), a man entered the pizza store on Steel Street and asked to purchase a dink.
As one of the two employees turned to serve him the man produced a shortened firearm, threatened the two male employees and demanded cash.
One employee handed over a quantity of cash and the offender fled on foot. He was last seen in Steel Street heading towards Hunter Street.
The man may have left in an older model white van.
No one was injured during the robbery.
Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command were called and searched the area but could not locate the man or the vehicle.
The man has been described to police as being of Caucasian appearance, between 35 and 40 years old with a medium build.
At the time of the robbery the man was wearing a red and white baseball cap, navy t-shirt, grey shorts and no shoes.
The man had a green ‘enviro’ bag in which the firearm was secreted and covered it with a red shirt.

The robbery occurred around 3pm when two men, one armed with what appeared to be a knife, entered the Riverhills Road business and demanded money.
Their demands were complied with and they fled the store with money.
Both men are described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, with slim builds and dark facial hair.
One man was last seen wearing dark jeans, a dark hooded jumper.
The second man was last seen wearing a light-coloured hooded jumper.
Investigations are continuing.

Around 3:00pm two men, one armed with what appeared to be a knife, entered the business and demanded money from a female staff member.
The staff member complied with their demands and the men fled the store on foot with a sum of cash.
The female staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
Both men are described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, with slim builds and dark facial hair.

Detectives are investigating the armed robbery of a fast food outlet in Bundaberg early this morning.
Initial investigations suggest that at about 4.30am a man armed with a cricket bat and knife has entered the rear of the store on Takalvan Street.
The man has confronted a male and female employee and has demanded money from them. The man has then struck the male employee on the back of the head with the bat.
The employees complied with the man’s demands and he fled on foot from the premises with a sum of money.
The male staff member was treated at the scene for the injury to the back of his head.
The man was described as approximately 185cm tall with a slim build and was wearing blue/grey track pants and jumper with a black beanie covering his face.
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a seafood restaurant on Beaconfield Terrace in Brighton overnight.
Around 7.45pm, a man entered the business armed with what appeared to be a handgun, demanding money from a male staff member.
The staff member complied with the man’s demands, handing over a sum of cash. The man then fled the scene on foot, travelling in the direction of Longstaff Street.
The 36-year-old staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late teens with brown hair and was last seen wearing a blue and green polo shirt with large horizontal stripes and jeans.

The robbery occurred around 10.20pm Monday night when a man armed with what appeared to be an axe entered the Kingston Road store.
After taking money the man fled the store.
No one was physically injured.
The man is described as being around 183cms tall, had a proportionate build, a dark complexion and long, unkempt hair. His shoes are believed to be similar to the one pictured below.

Police have released CCTV images and footage of a car and two men who may be able to assist with inquiries into a number of armed robberies across south west Sydney between July and August this year.
Between Thursday 2 July and Thursday 13 August 2015, a series of armed robberies were committed on bottle shops and an attempted robbery at fast food outlet across Sydney including:
– A bottle shop on Miller Road, Bass Hill, on Thursday 2 July 2015;
– A fast food restaurant on Tower Street, Panania, on Wednesday 22 July 2015;
– A bottle shop on Canterbury Road, Punchbowl, on Monday 3 August 2015;
– A bottle shop on Miller Road, Bass Hill, on Saturday 8 August 2015; and
– A bottle shop on Canterbury Road, Roselands, on Thursday 13 August 2015.
During some of the incidents, two men entered the premises armed with a knife and demanded cash from the employee before fleeing the scene.
Officers attached to the Metropolitan Robbery Unit established Strike Force Myoora to investigate the five armed robberies, which are believed to be linked.
Investigators from Strike Force Myoora have released CCTV images and footage of a car and three men who may be able to assist with inquiries.
The car is described as a silver-coloured Honda Civic hatchback.
One of the men is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, in his 20s or 30s, about 180cm tall, with a large build.
Another man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall with a thin build.
The third man is described only as approximately 180cm tall, with a medium build.
A man is assisting with inquiries following an alleged ‘glassing’ at a restaurant in Cabramatta last night.
About 10.30pm (Saturday 31 October 2015), emergency services were called to the restaurant on Hughes Street, following reports of an altercation.
At the location, a 62-year-old man, who is a security guard at the restaurant, was found suffering a number of lacerations to his neck and face.
He was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 25-year-old-man was also treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital with lacerations to his hands.
Initial investigations suggest an altercation took place between the two men, after the younger man was asked to leave the restaurant.
During the altercation, the younger man allegedly smashed a glass and stabbed the 62-year-old man.
The 25-year-old man was later released from hospital. He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station, where he is currently assisting with inquiries
