Police are searching for three men and a woman following an armed robbery on a supermarket earlier tonight.
The robbery occurred at 6.45pm when three armed men, with their faces covered, entered the supermarket in the Blackburn North Shopping Centre.
Two of the men went to the express registers and demanded money from the cashiers while the other man went to the liquor department, where he too demanded cash.
The men were armed with machetes.
Once the men were given an amount of money, they all ran from the shopping centre and took off in a light coloured Subaru hatch driven by a woman who had remained in the vehicle.
Police have since established that the get away car had previously been stolen from Burwood two days ago.
No one was injured in the incident.
The shopping centre is situated at the intersection of Springfield and William roads in Blackburn North.

Excellent work by local detectives and Embona crews has resulted in two men being arrested for seven separate robberies.
Mark Anderson of South Yarra was arrested and interviewed over four armed robberies in the Prahran area that involved a firearm.
He has been charged and remanded with four counts of armed robbery and will face the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court today.
Matthew Begg of St Kilda was arrested and interviewed over three armed robberies in St Kilda that involved the offender using a knife or box cutter.
He has been charged and remanded with three counts of armed robbery and will also face the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court today.

Police are still calling for public assistance to help solve an armed robbery which occurred at a supermarket and bakery in Port Melbourne.
The incident occurred on 18 June around 10.25am and involved a group of five men entering a shopping centre, threatening staff with knives and cleavers and stealing cash.
Detectives have worked around the clock and have recovered a stolen Holden Commodore that they believe was used in the robbery.
It was recovered in Newport on 21 June.
Investigators have also recovered knives and cleavers that may have also been used in the robbery.
These items were allegedly dumped in grassland in Wyndham Vale after the Saturday morning robbery.
Police now believe that the same offenders are responsible for two similar robberies that were committed within 20 minutes of each other in Maribyrnong and Newport.
Supermarkets in Wests Street Maribyrnong and one in Mason Street Newport were robbed on 21 June between 12.30 and 12.50pm.
Police have released photographs and CCTV of individuals that they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

Police are searching for a man following an attempted armed robbery in Southbank last night. Investigators have been told a man approached the drive through window of the Kings Way restaurant on foot and jumped through the window shortly after 10.20pm. Once inside he attempted to remove a cash register and threatened staff members with what is believed to be a wrench. When staff members refused to hand over cash, the man exited the store through the front door and fled empty handed. No one was injured during the incident. Detectives from the Moreland Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following an alleged burglary at a bottle shop in Pascoe Vale South this morning.
Gesario Accaputo was charged with burglary, theft, theft of motor vehicle, criminal damage,  reckless conduct endangering life and various traffic offences, including fail to stop and exchange name and address, fail to obey a stop sign and drive in a manner dangerous.
The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody to appear in the Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 3 August.

Four youths have been charged over a series of alleged incidents which occurred in Melbourne’s north-western suburbs overnight.
Three boys, aged 13, 14 and 15, and a 15-year-old girl have been charged with armed robbery, theft, theft of motor vehicle, criminal damage and reckless conduct endangering life along with various traffic offences.
The quartet are expected to face a Children’s Court in the near future.

Police were quickly on the scene of an armed robbery at a drive through bottle shop in Reservoir yesterday, arresting the alleged offender in a nearby street.
Police attended the Plenty Road hotel at 1.30pm after an armed robber allegedly threatened the attendant in the drive thru with a box cutter and stole an amount of cash.
Responding police conducting a patrol of the area and spotted a youth in Steane Street who fitted the description of the alleged offender.
After a short conversation, police arrested a 15-year-old Reservoir boy and conveyed him to Preston Police Station.
The youth was subsequently charged with three counts of armed robbery and one count of possess a drug of dependence.
He is expected to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Melbourne Embona detectives are investigating after a man sporting a shoulder-length blonde wig robbed a liquor store at gunpoint in Richmond last night.
The thief entered the Swan St shop armed with a firearm and demanded cash from the lone male attendant at 7.19pm.
The 23-year-old Brunswick victim has opened the cash register and handed over an amount of cash.
The offender has then fled the store and was last seen walking west along Swan Street.
He is described as Caucasian, aged in his late 30s, about 183cm tall, with a slim build, an unshaven face and spoke with an Australian accent.
He was last seen wearing an all black outfit comprising of a three-quarter length coat, jeans, shoes and gloves. He was also wearing a blonde ‘bob-cut’, shoulder length wig.

Police are hunting a man believed responsible for an armed robbery at Kangaroo Flat yesterday.
The man struck just before 6.30pm at the liquor drive-through at Lansell Plaza in High Street.
The man allegedly approached the lone female cashier and demanded cash.
No one was injured in the incident and the man was last seen running through the car park towards the railway line.
At the time he was wearing dark blue jeans, a black top over a white hooded top, white runners and was armed with a knife.
Detectives from Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to this incident.

Police are hunting a bandit believed responsible for at least three armed robberies in Northcote over the past three weeks.
Police were first called to an armed robbery at a convenience store in Victoria Road on Saturday 23 June at 7pm.
They were told that a man armed with a knife had threatened staff and stolen cash.
The bandit struck a second time on 1 July when he attempted to hold up another convenience store in Victoria Road.
The victim has told police that on this occasion, the man entered the store around 5.15pm, armed with a knife and made threats.
The victim screamed and moved to another area in the store and the man ran from the shop empty handed.
The third incident occurred on 2 July when the bandit struck at the same location as the first incident on 23 June.
On this occasion he was, once again, given an amount of cash after threatening staff.
He is described as being aged between 25-30 years of age, having dark skin, unshaven, perceived to be of Indian or sub-continental appearance and approximately 160-170cm  tall.
At the time of the offences he was wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper and tracksuit pants, and black coloured masking tape covering his mouth and nose.
