Police were quickly at the scene of an alleged armed robbery in Chelsea Heights last night.
Police have been told a man armed with a knife entered a service station on Wells Road just after 11.30pm.
It is believed he made demands for cash when the attendant hit the alarm.
The Chelsea divisional van arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested a 28-year-old Chelsea Heights man.
Leigh Graham appeared before an out of sessions’ court hearing and was charged with attempted armed robbery and aggravated burglary.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Police have arrested and charged a 24-year-old man from Geelong with attempted robbery at a Service Station in Mount Gambier early this morning.
At about 4am, the man walked into the Commercial Road station, told staff he had a knife and demanded money.
No knife was seen and when staff refused to hand over money the man fled.
Police arrived soon after and with the assistance of staff pointing in the direction where the suspect ran off, he was found within minutes hiding down the side of a nearby house.
The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Mount Gambier Police Station later today.

A man has been arrested following an aggravated robbery at a Hawthorn service station overnight.
Police will allege just before 12.30am the man entered the BP On the Run at the intersection of Belair Road and Cross Road and threatened the staff member, intimating that he was armed with a gun.
No firearm was produced and the attendant refused to hand over any money. The thief instead stole other items, including chocolates and flowers, and fled on foot.
At about 2am, police received information that a man matching the description of the suspect was at the Mitcham Shopping Centre.
The 20-year-old man from Daw Park was arrested and charged with the aggravated robbery. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Launceston CDI have today charged a 15 year old youth from Waverley with Burglary and stealing relating to the ram raid and unsuccessful theft of the Automatic Teller machine (ATM) at BP service station Newnham committed in the early hours of Monday morning 18 March 2013.
The youth was also charged with the motor vehicle stealing, attempted burglary and breach of police bail relating to the same incident.
The youth was bailed to appear at the Launceston Youth Justice Court at a later date.
Police have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries into an armed robbery at Flemington.
About 6:30am on Sunday the 5 August 2012, a man entered a service station on Parramatta Road armed with a firearm.
The man approached the 29-year-old male employee and threatened him with the firearm, demanding he open the security door.
Once inside he took an amount of cash from the till before fleeing east on Parramatta Road.
Detectives from Flemington Local Area Command wish to speak with the man depicted in the CCTV images as he may be able to assist with inquiries.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 35 to 45 years of age with a medium build. He was wearing a red and white hooded jumper with the words ‘London’ and ‘60’ written on it, dark coloured tracksuit pants and white shoes.
Police are investigating several attempted break-ins and ram raids on business premises overnight that occurred across the metropolitan area. Police believe the incidents formed two separate crime series, with one crime series occurring in the north of the city, and one in the southern suburbs.
A white Subaru Impreza, registration S102ASE was stolen from West Lakes overnight and at midnight was involved in a petrol drive-off from a Seaton service station.
Police have released a CCTV image of a suspect at the service station.
Just after 4am, two people wearing skeleton masks were seen using a brick to try to smash the front door of a sports store on the Parade at Norwood. They were unsuccessful and left in the stolen white Subaru Impreza.
This vehicle was then used in a ram raid at a clothing store on Main Street at Mawson Lakes. The thieves ran into the store, grabbed bundles of clothing and took off in a second car, possibly a silver Toyota, leaving the white Subaru in the window. The getaway car from this incident has not been identified or located.
Meanwhile, in the southern suburbs, at about 3.30am, a red car rammed the roller door of the CFS building at Happy Valley. No entry was gained and nothing was stolen.
At about 5am a red car was used in an attempt to gain entry to an electrical store on Sherriffs Road, Lonsdale, however, the thieves were prevented from getting in and nothing was stolen.
The same red vehicle is believed to have been used by two males wearing balaclavas who jemmied the front door of a business on O’Sullivan Beach Road at Lonsdale at about 5.40am. The males got into the warehouse, however, nothing was stolen.
Police are still searching for a red or maroon car, possibly a Skyline, with front or rear end damage, believed to have been used in the incidents at Happy Valley and Lonsdale.

In the early hours (approx 4.15am) of this morning, offenders have attempted to drive a stolen blue Mitsubishi triton ute through the front window at the BP at Invermay. This was unsuccessful.
A short time later (4.20am), the same offenders have driven the same ute through the front window of the BP at Newnham. They have then unsuccessfully attempted to steal the ATM from this location, causing considerable damage to the shop.
The stolen ute was located a short time later by police, on fire in Rocherlea.
Police believe that at least four offenders were involved.
Police are appealing for information from the public following the armed robbery of a service station in Sydney’s south-west today.
Just after 5am (Saturday 16 March 2013), two men entered the premises on the Cumberland Highway, Smithfield.
One of the men was carrying a 30-centimetre-long machete.
The pair threatened the 28-year-old male cashier, who handed over an amount of cash and about 20 packets of cigarettes.
The men then fled the address, and were last seen running west along Victoria Road, Smithfield.
No-one was injured during the incident.
A crime scene was established and examined by officers from the Forensic Armed Robbery Unit.
Police from Fairfield Local Area Command are investigating and would like to speak with two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
Both men are described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged 20 to 30 years, about 170cm tall, and with a slim build.
They both wore black hooded jumpers, black pants and black gloves. The man carrying the machete was also wearing a red handkerchief across his face.
Police are investigating after a stolen vehicle was used to force entry into a number of premises on the Sunshine Coast last night.
Just before midnight, a man stole a tray back truck with a small crane type lift on the back from a business at Noosaville.
The vehicle was then driven into the roller doors of a service station on Eumundi-Noosa Road, Doonan where a sum of moneywas taken from the till.
The same vehicle was used to force entry into a pizza shop at a Ridgeview Drive centre in Peregian Springs around 12.40am. A cash tin containing a sum of money was stolen from the premises. CCTV images from this incident have been released (pictured).
A man then drove to a hotel in Peregian Beach and used the vehicle to smash the glass door to the gaming room, before ramming another vehicle.
The man then attempted to steal a poker machine, before fleeing the scene empty-handed when police arrived.
The man was wearing a dark suit jacket, black trousers, black dress shoes, black gloves and a black full-faced helmet.
Police are currently at the BP service station on Artesian Road, Two Wells following a hold-up there. At about 6.25am, a man allegedly armed with a handgun threatened a staff member before stealing cash. It is thought he fled in a waiting car heading north.
