Melbourne Embona detectives are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery at a bank in Abbotsford this morning.
Police have been told a man armed with a knife entered the business on Victoria Street and approached the staff around 9:30 am.
It is believed the bandit demanded cash, at which time staff activated the security system.
The offender then fled empty handed west along Victoria Street towards the city
He has been described as 165centimetres tall, medium build and was wearing a dark top with a hood.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man robbed a sports club in Sunbury this morning.
Police have been told a man armed with a firearm entered the club on Mitchells Lane just after 10am.
It is believed the man threatened staff and stole cash before fleeing the scene.
The offender is believed to be middle aged with a solid build.
He was wearing a black balaclava, blue cap, grey zip up jacket with a blue hooded jumper underneath.
Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a hotel in Eltham earlier this month.
Police have been told a man armed with a firearm entered the venue on Main Road and approached the attendant in the gaming room around 7.20pm on Thursday 7 August.
It is believed the bandit jumped the counter and demanded cash before assaulting the staff member.
The offender stole a substantial amount of cash and was last seen running through the car park.
He has been described as Caucasian in appearance, 30 to 40-years-old, 170cm tall with a solid build and spoke with an Australian accent.
He was wearing a black balaclava, yellow jacket with a .hood and small emblem on the left and black and brown shoes.
Detectives are keen to speak to any witnesses and have released images of a man that may assist with their enquiries.

Police have been told a man armed with a knife entered the milk bar on Albert Street and was found by the owner behind the counter around 7.20am.
It is believed the offender stole cigarettes before fleeing the scene.
He has been described as Caucasian in appearance, 180cm tall with a thin build and was wearing black clothing at the time of the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit to the head with a glass at a St Kilda bar on Sunday morning.
Police have been told a man was at a bar on Acland Street celebrating a friend’s birthday just after 2am.
It is believed the man was with friends on the dance floor when he was involved in an altercation with another man.
A fight broke out between the two men and the victim was hit with a glass.
He received two lacerations to the head and other facial injuries.
The men were pulled apart by security and the offender was last seen walking north along Barkly Street towards Carlisle Street.
The offender is perceived to be of Southern European appearance, approximately 165cm to 175cm tall and unshaven.
He was wearing a white singlet, black shirt and dark coloured jeans.
St Kilda Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released footage and images in the hope that some one may be able to assist in identifying the man.
Detectives are appealing for public assistance as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of gaming venue armed robberies across the north and western suburbs of Melbourne.
Armed Crime Squad Detective Inspector Stephen Clark said the armed robberies, committed over the last three months, are all believed to be linked.
“It appears at this stage that the armed robberies have been committed by the same Middle Eastern crime syndicate,” D/Insp Clark said.
“On each occasion the offenders, who we believe are aged between 16 and 25-years, were armed with a firearm and an edged weapon and threatened staff.
“We have seen that the number of men involved in each incident has varied from two to four and they seem to enter the venue with no regard to who or how many people may be there.
“To this date in excess of $100,000 has been stolen.”

Investigators have released CCTV footage and still images in the hope they will assist their investigation.


They have also released a FACE image of a person they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.

Detectives from Box Hill Embona Task Force are investigating a robbery and three armed robberies at retail outlets in Mount Waverley between April and June this year.
On Sunday 6 April at 4.50pm, two men entered a Hamilton Place bakery and stole the cash drawer containing cash.
The offenders are believed to have escaped in a red Holden Commodore sedan.
On Sunday 1 June at 7.40pm, three men entered a bottle shop armed with a baseball bat, large machete, and a knife.
They stole the cash drawer including the day’s takings as well as cigarettes before fleeing the Huntingdale Road store in a dark-coloured Nissan coupe driven by a fourth man.
On Friday, 6 June at 6.25pm, two men attended the Pinewood Shopping Centre armed with a large machete and baseball bat.
They entered a supermarket and stole cash and cigarettes before escaping in a dark coloured Nissan coupe that was driven by an accomplice.
In the fourth incident, two men entered a separate Hamilton Place bakery on Saturday 7 June around 4.10pm.
One of the men was armed a large machete and the pair stole the cash drawer containing money before leaving the store.
Detectives believe the incidents are linked and that the offenders may live locally.
The offenders were all wearing bandanas and hoodies during the armed robberies.
Detectives from Cobram Crime Investigation Unit have arrested and charged two men over an alleged armed robbery which occurred at a service station in Cobram on Sunday night.
Two local men, 27-year-old James Welsh and 19-year-old Bradley Watt, faced an out of sessions hearing last night.
Both were charged with armed robbery and were remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 6 August.
Brimbank Embona Taskforce detectives are appealing for information after a milk bar owner was robbed at knifepoint in Sunshine last month.
Investigators have been told the robber entered the Hampshire Road store around 9.50am on 21 July and approached the front counter demanding cash.
When the attendant refused, the man pulled out a carving knife and brandished it at him.
The shopkeeper opened the till and the robber grabbed a sum of cash before fleeing the scene on foot east along Benjamin Street.
Detectives investigating have released CCTV images and footage of the man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
The man police wish to speak to is described as being Caucasian, around 183cm tall and aged between 25-35 with a reddish-coloured beard.
He was wearing a black cap with a distinctive red and white logo on the front, a dark-coloured jacket with a fawn-coloured collar, black tracksuit pants with white stripes up the side and black runners with white laces.
Cobram Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a service station in Cobram last night.
Investigators have been told an offender wearing a balaclava and gloves entered the service station at the corner of Station Street and the Murray Valley Highway about 10.30pm.
The offender, believed to be a male and armed with a knife, made demands for cash from the female staff member.
The staff member complied and handed over an amount of cash and cigarettes.
The offender ran from the store and was seen running to an awaiting vehicle on Station Street.
The vehicle, which was driven by a second offender, was last seen travelling north along Station Street.
No one was injured during the incident.
