Crimes related to Liquor Stores

Detectives from Box Hill Embona Task Force are investigating a robbery and three armed robberies at retail outlets in Mount Waverley between April and June this year.

On Sunday 6 April at 4.50pm, two men entered a Hamilton Place bakery and stole the cash drawer containing cash.

The offenders are believed to have escaped in a red Holden Commodore sedan.

On Sunday 1 June at 7.40pm, three men entered a bottle shop armed with a baseball bat, large machete, and a knife.

They stole the cash drawer including the day’s takings as well as cigarettes before fleeing the Huntingdale Road store in a dark-coloured Nissan coupe driven by a fourth man.

On Friday, 6 June at 6.25pm, two men attended the Pinewood Shopping Centre armed with a large machete and baseball bat.

They entered a supermarket and stole cash and cigarettes before escaping in a dark coloured Nissan coupe that was driven by an accomplice.

In the fourth incident, two men entered a separate Hamilton Place bakery on Saturday 7 June around 4.10pm.

One of the men was armed a large machete and the pair stole the cash drawer containing money before leaving the store.

Detectives believe the incidents are linked and that the offenders may live locally.

The offenders were all wearing bandanas and hoodies during the armed robberies.

Holden Hill and Elizabeth Police are investigating a series of four armed robberies on business premises at Ridgehaven, Fairview Park, Para Vista and Parafield Gardens last night.

At 6.20pm, a man allegedly armed with a firearm attempted to rob a Beauty Salon at Ridgehaven.

A short time later the same man then committed three others robberies.

At 6.30pm a Video store on Hancock Road at Fairview Park was robbed with cash stolen.  At 6.40pm another Video shop on Nelson Road Para Vista was robbed of cash.

And lastly at about 8.30pm a Liquor shop on Salisbury Highway at Parafield Gardens was robbed by the same man who demanded money.

CCTV from the robberies indicates the same man was involved in four incidents.

The suspect (pictured) is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 185 to 188cm tall, with a solid build.

He was wearing a black hooded top, dark jeans, khaki shoes and was also wearing orange high visibility vest over his hooded top.

There were no injuries in any of the robberies.

Cash has been stolen during the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Westmead overnight.

Police have been told a man, armed with a shotgun, entered the business on Hawkesbury Road about 11pm (Thursday 7 August 2014), and demanded cash.

The 50-year-old male employee handed over cash and the man ran from the store; he was last seen heading south along Hawkesbury Road.

Police wish to speak with a man they believe can assist with the investigation.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall with a thin build. At the time he was wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket, navy blue tracksuit pants with white Nike sneakers. His face was covered with a blue/white chequered scarf.

Police are investigating after an armed robbery at a bottle shop in Padstow.

About 7.30pm yesterday (Saturday 2 August 2014), a man armed with a knife entered the Howard Street business.

The man demanded the two male staff members open the cash register.

They complied, and the man took out the till and emptied the contents into a bag. He then fled the shop.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Police from Bankstown Local Area Command attended and began an investigation.

They are appealing for information from the public about a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged between 20 and 25, about 185cm tall, and with a medium build. He was wearing a bandanna across his face, a blue beanie, a dark-coloured long-sleeve jacket, and dark pants.

Four youths have been arrested after an aggravated robbery at Welland. At about 7.20pm, police will allege that the group entered a liquor store on Port Road. One male distracted staff, while another male stole a bottle of alcohol. When staff confronted the group, the male with the bottle allegedly threatened them with a knife. Patrols quickly descended on the scene, and with the assistance of a police dog located the suspects nearby at the West Croydon railway station. A 15-year-old boy from Modbury and a 14-year-old boy from Port Adelaide were charged with aggravated robbery. They are expected to be refused bail. A 16-year-old boy from Semaphore Park was charged with disorderly behaviour, and a 14-year-old girl from Semaphore Park was charged with breach of bail and providing false particulars. Members of the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol have located and arrested a man in relation to the armed robbery of a bottleshop at Helensvale on July 20, 2014.

During the robbery a hatchet was allegedly produced at the Siganto Drive premises.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed place of abode has been charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and a drug offence.

He is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a bottle shop at Helensvale last night.

Around 6.20pm a man entered the Siganto Drive premises and picked up a bottle of alcohol from the shelf.

The man attended the counter and place down the bottle before reaching down and producing a hatchet from a bag. He made demands for money but the store attendant refused to hand over any cash.

The offender grabbed the bottle of alcohol and ran out of the store. He was seen to get into a stolen grey 2012 Hyundai i20 with Queensland registration 326 SMC being driven by a woman.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a BWS bottle shop at Angle Vale tonight.

At about 6.30pm, a man armed with a knife entered the Heaslip Road store and threatened staff with a knife demanding money.

The man ran off with an amount of cash, alcohol and a wallet.  No one was physically injured.

The suspect is described as a man of Caucasian appearance, aged between 28-30 years, approximately 183cm tall with a medium build.

He was wearing a black Drizabone jacket with the hood over his head, blue trousers and white sneakers.

Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Armidale last night.

About 8:50pm, Saturday 12 July 2014, a man wearing a balaclava entered the store on Queen Elizabeth Drive and threatened the shop assistant with a rifle.

He was handed cash from the register before running out of the store in a westerly direction. The shop assistant was not injured and no shots were fired during the robbery.

Police were called to the bottle shop and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives from New England Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the robbery and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and contact police.

They are looking for a man who has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, 25-30 years old, and 180 to 185cm tall with a small/medium build.

Police have arrested two men and seized a firearm following an investigation into a string of armed robberies in Sydney earlier this year.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit formed Strike Force Endemic to investigate the incidents which occurred between March and May this year.

The robberies occurred at a liquor shop in Roselands; a post office in North Revesby; and at a Chipping Norton newsagency.

During the newsagent robbery, the shop owner was allegedly struck in the head with a shortened firearm.

Following their lengthy investigation, strike force police today (Wednesday 9 July) arrested two men, aged 22 and 23.

Detectives today also raided homes on Alderson Avenue in Liverpool; Urana Street in Villawood; and Riddell Crescent in Blackett.

Police will allege they found a shortened firearm during one of the search warrants. It has been seized for forensic analysis.

The two men have been charged with a range of offences including, robbery armed with an dangerous weapon with wounding and armed robbery with an offensive weapon.

They have been refused bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.
